Strong
families encourage individuality, independence and self-sufficiency while
retaining an indelible sense of family, loyalty and inter-dependence.
By facilitating these objectives through personal consultations, family
meetings and retreats, we provide both learning opportunities and practical
experience.

Decision-Making
and Consensus Building
We recognize
the importance of maintaining the balance between leadership and consensus,
independence and inter-dependence, standing up for one’s convictions
and respecting the convictions of others. We work to help families create
a process through which such conditions can flourish, where it is safe
to make one’s own decisions while respecting the decisions of others
and where responsibility is matched with authority.
Communication
and Conflict Resolution
Successful families
have learned to talk to each other, in good times and in bad. Existing
problems are more likely to be resolved and new ones avoided, if there
is a forum for expressing feelings and concerns in an atmosphere that
is safe from recrimination. We focus on helping families develop effective
communication techniques, which they can then utilize to create successful
family meetings and positive interpersonal dialogue.
Leadership
Training
Sometimes leadership
is innate, sometimes it is learned. Sometimes leadership is bold and aggressive
and sometimes it is quiet and unobtrusive. Some individuals demonstrate
leadership in business, others in sports and still others in community
service. For many, leadership is directed to one’s own life and
family. Our approach is to assist each family member to develop his or
her leadership skills to the extent of each person’s capacity and
desire.
Financial
Skills and Competency
The generation
that earned wealth has a distinct advantage–personal achievement.
But family members in successor generations will need to acquire the financial
skills necessary to prudently and responsibly manage the wealth. We train,
mentor and monitor the progress and development of those who require such
skills. By preparing them for the challenges ahead, the next generations
develop their own strengths and their own personal achievements.
